So we’ve made it to Panama City. The plan we discussed earlier this afternoon involved staying in Panama City for a night or two, but finding affordable accommodations has proven virtually impossible. We may have to head back north and stay somewhere for the night, then push on West toward New Orleans where we would like to spend two or three nights before heading back to Texas and then home to Arkansas. Right now, we are sitting in a Starbucks in Panama City, happy to be out of the car and out of the heat for a little while.
I have done NO chess for the past two days because we have been busy doing vacation stuff like getting beaten up by the surf in the Gulf of Mexico. At the end of the day, I’ve been passing out in the hotel room relatively early. I’m hoping to have a chance tonight to do some work on volume one of Watson’s series Mastering the Chess Openings. I am learning a lot from it. As I mentioned before, it’s answering some questions I’ve had that no other books or “coaches” have been able to answer for me in the past. I am still debating purchasing Chess Structures by Rios, because Chess Informant 140 is out and I’ve been looking forward to it also.
Hopefully I won’t pass out early tonight when we settle in at the hotel and I’ll be able to get some work done. I might even do a quick Twitch stream from the hotel, who knows?
